C&L Aerospace continues Bangor expansion

C&L Aerospace, a global aviation services company in Bangor, recently opened its newly renovated aircraft painting facility, which will allow the company to hire 20 more employees.

The Bangor Daily News reported that C&L Aerospace celebrated the reopening of the 17,000-square-foot former Dow Air Force Base hangar on Thursday, which will allow the company to increase its current 130-person workforce.

C&L Aerospace completed a $5 million expansion of its Bangor headquarters earlier this year.

"We're growing, we're building new facilities that triple the space we'll have [at Bangor International Airport]," Chris Kilgour, CEO of C&L Aerospace, told Mainebiz in April.

C&L Aerospace is among other Maine aviation companies that are experiencing an increase in demand for aviation services, as previously reported by Mainebiz.  The 2014 market economic assessment for Maine by the Aeronautical Repair Station Association and TeamSAi Consulting puts total employment for Maine's aviation maintenance industry at 1,052 workers, with an economic impact of $124.7 million. Both figures reflect an upward trend from ARSA's 2009 report, which tallied 984 aviation maintenance workers in Maine and an impact of roughly $120 million.
