SymQuest to double Maine workforce by 2017
SymQuest, a managed IT services company, said its move from Auburn into the Bates Mill in Lewiston will enable the company to double its Maine workforce to 70 employees by 2017.
The company moved into a 3,000-square-foot space in the Bates Mill on Nov. 1 after first announcing the relocation in August, SymQuest said Thursday. The company will hold a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event for the public on Nov. 12.
“SymQuest aims to grow from $40 million to a $50 million company,” Larry Sudbay, SymQuest’s president of CEO, said when the move was first announced. “We see much of that growth being driven by the Maine marketplace, especially as the business community here is primed to embrace emerging trends in managed services.”
While the company’s move will enable it to grow, Sudbay said he also saw the relocation as a way to support Lewiston’s revitalization efforts at the Bates Mill. “If we’re going to get behind the community, we feel we need to support and invest in revitalization efforts,” he added.
In addition to Lewiston, SymQuest has locations in Westbrook, South Burlington and Rutland, Vt., Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Keene and West Lebanon, N.H. The company was founded in 1996.
