Biddeford touts $50M mill redevelopment plan

Biddeford officials announced on Thursday a $50 million redevelopment plan by a private developer to convert the Lincoln Mill into apartments, a hotel and restaurants.

The Portland Press Herald reported that Odyssey Properties LLC is expected to appear before the city’s planning board on Dec. 3 to present its plans for the mill, which the newspaper indicated were spurred by the city’s demolition of the former Maine Energy Recovery trash incinerator that had been located nearby.

“The investment in the Lincoln Mill is a direct result of the elimination of Maine Energy,” Mayor Alan Casavant told the newspaper.

The Lincoln Mill Hotel and Lofts project will include 101 market-rate apartments, an 80-room hotel and two restaurants. Construction is expected to take 18 to 24 months, the newspaper reported.
