Winxnet makes third acquisition this year

Portland-based IT firm Winxnet has bought a local consulting technology group, making it the company’s third acquisition this year.

Winxnet announced the purchase of Portland-based Maine Networks on Monday. The acquisition brings the company’s total workforce to around 110 employees, an increase from the 70 before the company’s first and second acquisitions this year.

Financial details of the most recent acquisition were not disclosed.

Jeff Kinney, who founded Maine Networks 16 years ago, will join Winxnet as senior account engineer, Winxnet said. The consulting group’s other sole employee is expected to join.

Chris Claudio, CEO of Winxnet, told Mainebiz that the acquisitions are part of the company’s continued growth strategy by increasing its skilled workforce to continue providing a high level of customer service. He said the company intends to continue this strategy into 2015 and 2016, noting that Winxnet is already in the vetting phase for its next acquisition.

“We are committed to finding the most talented and capable professionals to join our growing team and customer base,” Claudio said in a prepared statement.

Claudio added that Winxnet is also growing organically, increasing its hires and customer base from within. “We have a sales team that is firing on all cylinders,” he said.

Winxnet, which was named one of the country's fastest growing companies by Inc. magazine, made its first and second acquisitions earlier this year with Portland-based InfoSecurus and Methuen, Mass.-based KDSA Consulting LLC.
