Partnership jump-starts Maine power project

A power transmission project has been proposed by two regional utilities that would connect Maine wind energy projects and Canadian hydropower with New England population centers.

The Bangor Daily News reported that National Grid, one of the largest utilities in the region, and Massachusetts-based Anbaric Transmission announced a partnership on Tuesday that would pave the way for electricity transmission projects.

The projects include the Maine Green Line transmission project, a project that was originally proposed years ago and would involve an underwater 300-mile power cable that would extend from Maine to greater Boston.
