159-year-old Farmington business closes

Trask Jewelers in Farmington has closed after operating for 159 years.

The Morning Sentinel reported that Trask Jewelers’ last day was New Year’s Eve. The store’s three full-time employees are all retiring.

Store owner John Anderson, 62, told the newspaper he made the decision to close the store because he wants to spend more time with his 95-year-old father, Paul Anderson, who handed the business over to him more than 30 years ago.

Anderson added that while the store’s ownership had previously been passed down by two other families, he couldn’t find a successor to continue operations.
