Cook’s Lobster House up for sale

The iconic Cook’s Lobster House in Harpswell is up for sale.

The Portland Press Herald reported the seafood restaurant’s asking price is $1.79 million, according to a listing by Portland-based Malone Commercial Brokers. The restaurant’s current owner, Curt Parent, did not respond to the newspaper’s multiple requests for comment.

The 190-seat, 5,320-square-foot restaurant, which has been operating on Bailey Island in Harpswell since 1955, typically employs about 100 people every year.

Greg Dugal, president of the Maine Restaurant Association, told the newspaper that he suspects Cook’s Lobster House will continue to operate as a restaurant after being purchased by a new owner.
