Gorham manufacturer gets Lockheed contract

Mega Industries, a Gorham-based manufacturer, has landed a $97,000 contract with Lockheed Martin to design and develop a waveguide system for the weather radar of a large military transport aircraft used by the U.S. Air Force.

Anania & Associates Investment Co. LLC, the Windham-based private equity firm that owns Mega, announced on Tuesday the manufacturer’s contract to provide work on Lockheed Martin’s C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft. Mega also will provide material for two of the aircraft.

The private equity firm said the improvements will reduce mission costs for the Super Galaxy by allowing it to operate with fewer flight restrictions.

“This award is an important milestone in our strategy to expand our business in the defense sector,” Peter Matthews, Mega’s CEO, said in a prepared statement.
