Liquid propane gas site proposed in S. Portland

A subsidiary that is owned by the parent company of Downeast Energy is proposing to build a liquid propane gas storage and distribution plant in South Portland.

The Portland Press Herald reported that NGL Supply Terminal Co., owned by Tulsa, Okla.-based NGL Energy Partners, seeks to build the facility at the city’s Rigby Rail Yard, where it said it can expand upon its current storage capacity by 80,000 gallons. NGL has to move from its current location on Commercial Street in Portland because of the International Marine Terminal’s planned expansion near the Casco Bay Bridge.

The Portland Planning Board is expected to hold a public hearing on the proposal sometime in April.
