Suffolk Downs sues Maine off-track betting parlors

The owner of Suffolk Downs, an East Boston race track, is suing the owners of off-track betting parlors in Scarborough and Sanford alleging they owe more than $400,000 for unpaid bets, commissions and fees.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Suffolk Downs filed a complaint against the owner of Scarborough Downs seeking payment of $180,000 and a separate complaint against the owner of a Sanford OTB operation seeking nearly $240,000.

Portland attorney Edward MacColl told the newspaper that Scarborough Downs disputes the amount Suffolk Downs alleges it owes and that he had not yet seen the complaint filed against the Sanford facility, and therefore could not comment on it.
