Contract may spur hiring spree at Caribou firm

Virtual Managed Solutions, a software support and IT company in Caribou, may hire an extra 65 to 100 employees by next year if a new contract with a client works out.

C.B. Smith, the company’s CEO, told the Aroostook Republican & News that the company may start a hiring spree by the third quarter of this year after one of VMS’ hotel clients told him that it anticipates an increased demand in service.

To prepare for the potential hiring spree, VMS is working with the town of Caribou to apply for a Community Development Block Grant that could help the company obtain more equipment and working capital. VMS’ client has yet to make a final decision on what would drive the hiring spree and allow the CDBG process to continue.
