Presque Isle manufacturer seeks $3M expansion

A Presque Isle-based manufacturer that is considered one of the world’s largest makers of orthodontic appliances is seeking to make a $3 million expansion and hire 23 more workers.

The Presque Isle Star-Herald reported that Acme Monaco is seeking to partially fund that expansion with a Community Development Block Grant application for $690,000 that is being submitted on the city’s behalf. The company is proposing to create 23 new jobs if the grant is approved by the state.

Larry Clark, executive director of the Presque Isle Industrial Council, was quoted as saying the company wants to consolidate its two plants in the city into a single, 16,000-square-foot facility that would allow for expansion in the future. He added that the company is applying for additional grants through the federal government.
