Kestrel merges with New Mexico company
Wisconsin-based Kestrel Aircraft has merged with an Albuquerque, N.M., aviation company, and it’s not expected to have an immediate impact on Kestrel’s operation in Brunswick.
The Bangor Daily News reported that Kestrel and Eclipse Aerospace have merged into a company called ONE Aviation, which is expected to help both companies cut down on costs. Kestrel founder Alan Klapmeier will lead the new company.
Kestrel has been working on launching its turboprop plan for years while facing a number of difficulties, including falling behind in rent at Brunswick Landing and falling behind on loan payments with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.
Now, a prototype of the company’s Kestrel 350 plane is expected to be launched within the next 18 to 24 months under ONE Aviation. The combined company will use its expanded resources to market the turboprop plane. Eclipse already has its own turboprop plane on the market.
