Pierce Atwood lobbyist joins LePage team

Former Pierce Atwood lobbyist Avery Day has joined Gov. Paul LePage’s administration as a senior policy advisor, the governor said Monday as part of several staff announcements.

LePage also announced Cynthia Montgomery, most recently chief counsel for the Maine Bureau of Employee Relations, as the governor’s new chief legal counsel. She replaces Carlisle McLean, who was appointed to the Maine Public Utilities Commision.

Day, who most recently worked for Pierce Atwood’s government relations and litigation practice groups, will focus on several policy areas as an advisor, including environmental protection, agriculture, conservation and forestry and marine resources.

The governor also named Aaron Chadbourne, a former management consultant at Washington, D.C.-based McKinsey & Company, as a senior policy advisor overseeing various policy areas, including education and taxation. In addition, Lance Libby, a legislative policy coordinator, was recently prompted to transportation policy advisor.
