Allstate Insurance plans Maine expansion

Allstate Insurance Co. is planning to add 21 new positions in Maine, citing the state’s “strong economy” as the reason for the expansion.

The Illinois-based company announced Wednesday that it is recruiting four agency owners and 17 licensed sales staff in Maine as part of a New England expansion plan, which will grow the company’s agency presence by 28% in the state.

“Maine’s strong economy is fueling this expansion plan,” Ed Norcia, Allstate’s northeast region strategic deployment leader, said in a prepared statement. “We target cities and areas that are growing and have an increased need to protect what matters most to the people in those communities as a part of Allstate’s broader strategy to expand in Maine.”

For agency owners, Allstate said it’s looking for mid-career, mid-level managers “who want to own and operate their own business.” Candidates need $50,000 minimum in liquid capital, which will go towards launching and operating the agency, the company said. Each agency typically opens with a minimum of two employees, it added.
