Major Rockland development to be unveiled soon

A group of investors is expected to unveil its plans soon for a major development project in Rockland that would include retail and office space.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Rockland Community Development Director Audra Caler-Bell made the announcement Thursday. The developers behind the project are currently not being named, but they are expected to step forward soon, Caler-Bell said.

The project has financial backing, Caler-Bell said, and it would involve new buildings on the Tilson Avenue peninsula with retail and industrial space on the ground floor and office space in the upper floors. The project might also include a multi-story parking garage, she said.

The city, which has targeted the Tilson Avenue peninsula for redevelopment, has received one proposal from John Morris Architects for the land. In lieu of an actual development proposal, the architecture firm has offered its services to any potential developers.
