UNE nets $33K grant for nursing program

The University of New England is receiving $33,859 in federal funding to support the school’s nurse anesthetist program.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced Wednesday that the grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will cover all or part of the tuition, books and living expenses for certain licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students.

“The education and training opportunities offered by the University of New England provide students in the medical field with access to top-tier instructors and facilities,” Collins and King said in a prepared statement. “This funding ensures continued support for medical professionals in underserved areas.”
