Lyman-Morse buys Camden boatbuilder
Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding has acquired a Camden boatbuilder that will give the Thomaston company access to what it calls one of the top harbors on the East Coast.
The Thomaston boatbuilder announced its acquisition of Wayfarer Marine Corp. on Wednesday, noting that the Camden company has been renamed Lyman-Morse at Wayfarer Marine as a result. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“We are very excited about joining the two crews to create a most talented group of marine experts,” Drew Lyman, president of Lyman-Morse, said in a prepared statement. “Wayfarer’s customers will benefit in a big way through economies of scale and access to Lyman-Morse’s depth of expertise and resources including our boatbuilding pedigree, Lyman-Morse Fabrication, our CNC machining department, and Lyman-Morse Technologies.”
“In addition, we recognize the benefits of having our name front and center in Camden, Maine, a place that for more than a century has been a destination harbor in the yachting world,” he continued. “We love the synergy of tying the two businesses together to create an even stronger world-class destination yard.”
Lyman-Morse said the acquisition will give the company access to 846 feet of dockage with 37 slips on Camden Harbor. The company said Wayfarer Marine’s launch service provides transport to and from its 47 moorings, boasting a 110-ton Travelift, an 80-ton Brownell trailer and nine climate-controlled work and paint bays.
