MaineHealth gets $250K for children’s oral health

The MaineHealth system in Portland has received a $250,000 federal grant to support its Children’s Oral Healthcare Access Program.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced the grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday.

"Tooth decay is the most common childhood disease, experienced by nearly one-quarter of all young people in the United States,” Collins and King said in a joint statement. “Improving access to oral health care for our children, especially those most vulnerable, is critical to promoting lifelong dental and overall health.”
