St. Mary's hires New Jersey health exec as CEO

St. Mary’s Health System in Lewiston has hired a New Jersey health care system senior executive to replace outgoing President and CEO Lee Myles.

The Sun Journal reported that Christopher Chekouras, senior vice president of post-acute and community-based services at Virtua health care system, will take over when Myles retires this October. St. Mary’s Health System includes St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

“[Chekouras] was an outstanding choice in our mind, not only because of his background, but also his proven history of achieving results through effective collaboration, transparent communication and personal accountability," St. Mary’s board Chairman Craig Gunderson said in a statement provided to the newspaper.
