1,100-panel solar farm eyed for Rockland

ReVision Energy is expressing interest in installing a solar farm in Rockland with up to 1,100 solar panels that could produce more than 400,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually for up to nine shareholders.

The company, which has offices in Liberty and Portland, will be giving a presentation about community solar farms at the Rockland Public Library on Aug. 11 starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Bangor Daily News reported that the system, if built, would be the largest community solar farm in the state. The proposed location is in an industrial zone, the newspaper reported.

The solar farm would be member-owned. If sufficient shareholders commit to the project, construction of the solar farm could begin as early as this fall, the newspaper reported.
