Rockland grants initial industrial park approval to unnamed manufacturer

The Rockland City Council voted unanimously on Monday to give initial authorization to the sale of a property in the city’s industrial park to an as-yet-unnamed manufacturing firm, the Courier-Gazette reported.

The company has made an offer to buy a 30-acre, city-owned property in the industrial park for $50,000 and hopes to build a complex that will have 40 employees. The lot is located at 60 Merrill Drive.

The city council’s approval was in a first reading and the issue will have to return to the council for final approval.

City Manager James Chaousis told the newspaper Tuesday that the buyer will also have to go to the Planning Board and obtain any necessary environmental permits before constructing anything on the property. Currently the property is undeveloped land that would need an access road constructed to be used.

The manufacturer is represented by Portland-based real estate brokerage company The Dunham Group.
