Sanford doughnut shop opens second location in Biddeford

Dirty Dozen Donuts, a doughnut shop that launched in Sanford in 2012, opened a second location in Biddeford on Wednesday, the Journal Tribune reported.

Owner Kelsey Quint told the newspaper she had been considering opening another store for a while, and she saw downtown Biddeford as a growing area. She plans on making the doughnuts in Sanford and delivering them to the Biddeford shop each morning.

The location, at 137 Main St., was previously occupied by Dahlia’s Delights, a vegetarian cafe that opened in 2013 and closed in April. Two more new businesses are slated to open on the same block as the new doughnut shop, Heart of Biddeford Director Delilah Poupore told the newspaper.

Biddeford once had a reputation as a gritty, blue-collar mill town that trucked in trash to burn in a downtown incinerator. Heart of Biddeford, founded in 2004, is helping transform the downtown area, where a tree-lined Main Street is today lined with a diverse mix of restaurants, galleries and shops.
