Distillery to open in Thompson's Point next year

A distillery plans to open a production facility, tasting room and space for private events at Thompson’s Point in Portland next year, the Portland Press Herald reported Tuesday.

The distillery, Stroudwater Spirits, will lease a 5,000-square-foot space at the development, a former rail yard along the Fore River.

It plans to make small-batch bourbon, whiskey, vodka and gin.

Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville announced its plan in January to open a tasting room and retail store similarly sized space at the 30-acre former industrial site.

“Our vision for The Point is to become the hub for creative energy and visionary entrepreneurship that's not only thriving, but burning white-hot in Maine," Chris Thompson, one of the principals overseeing the development, told Mainebiz earlier this year.
