Harvey Building Products opens Augusta warehouse

Waltham, Mass.-based Harvey Building Products recently opened its second Maine location at a former PepsiCo warehouse in Augusta.

The manufacturer and seller of windows, doors and porch enclosures held a ribbon-cutting at its new Augusta warehouse Thursday, the Kennebec Journal reported.

The company, which has a showroom in Portland and 34 facilities between Pennsylvania and Maine, sells its building products directly to contractors in residential and light commercial markets, according to the paper.

Jim Barreira, president of Harvey Building Products, told the paper than Augusta has a great deal of contractor and builder activity, and the company is excited to be part it.

The warehouse is expected to employ 10 people once hiring is completed.

The location at 80 Anthony Ave. was previously occupied by PepsiCo, which closed the Augusta warehouse and another in Portland about a year ago as part of a reduction of its facility-related expenses. About 100 people were laid off as a result of the closures.
