Lost Valley ski resort to be sold to N.H. couple

The owner of a New Hampshire-based lift operation inspection company has signed a purchase-and-sales agreement for Lost Valley Ski & Banquet Resort in Auburn.

The Sun Journal reported that Scott Shanaman and his wife, April, signed that agreement along with an interim management agreement for the struggling ski resort on Friday.

A purchase price was not disclosed, but the paper reported that any debt will be paid by the current owners at closing, which is expected to occur sometime in 2016.

Shanaman told the paper that he would like to turn the focus of the resort back to being a ski area and away from being an events center.

The resort has been losing nearly $200,000 per season for several years and required an online crowdfunding effort to open last winter.

The ski resort said on its Facebook page that it expects to open for the season on Dec. 18.
