Gov. LePage to speak at U.S.-Canada energy conference

Gov. Paul LePage and Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard are set to speak Friday at the U.S.-Canada Energy Trade Conference in Boston.

The Associated Press reported that the theme of the two-day conference, hosted by the New England-Canada Business Council, is integrating infrastructure in a high-cost region.

Topics that will be discussed include the importing of electricity from Canada and proposals for new natural gas pipelines in New England.

Lowering energy costs in Maine for businesses and residents has been a stated priority of the Republican governor since his first State of the State address in 2012.
