Proposed Westbrook shopping plaza under review

A proposed shopping center called Dirigo Plaza on the Portland-Westbrook line will be reviewed by Westbrook’s Planning Board next week.

The Portland Press Herald reported that the plan, from developer Jeffrey Gove, was recently revised to include a pond and walking trails. The plan for the 500,000-square-foot development calls for three warehouse-size stores, with the biggest expected to be about 167,000 square feet.

Gove declined to say which retailers would be in the plaza. He had previously said that he hoped to begin construction in late winter.

The site on Main Street and Larrabee Road is currently a gravel pit operated by Pike Industries.
