Maine’s most expensive and cheapest real estate markets

Kennebunk and Kennebunkport topped a list of most expensive real estate markets in Maine, while Waterville and Augusta were named most affordable.

The rankings were part of Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC’s 2015 Home Listing Report released Tuesday. The annual report ranked the average listing price of four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes in more than 2,700 markets around the country.

To generate the list, the brokerage company analyzed the average listing price for more than 81,000 properties that fit that criteria on coldwellbanker.com between December 2014 and June 2015. Markets without at least 10 four-bedroom, two-bathroom listings in the time period were excluded.

The full data for Maine and the rest of the country can be found on the Coldwell Banker Home Listing Report website.

The average price in Maine’s most expensive market, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, was $517,315. The cheapest, Waterville, was $133,481.

Nationwide, the most expensive market was Newport Beach, Calif., at an average price of nearly $2.3 million. All but two of the top 16 markets are located in California.
