Brunswick Landing chosen as development site for new aircraft
Minnesota-based MVP Aero has chosen Brunswick Landing as the development site for its new Model MVP-2 amphibious aircraft.
The company made the announcement at last week’s U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Fla. Founded in 2011, MVP Aero is behind a push to bring more feature-heavy aircraft to the sports consumer marketplace, including the MVP-2, according to a news release by the company.
A new entrant into the Light Sport Aircraft category, the MVP-2 lets a pilot fold the wings of the plane while on the water, allowing it to reach marinas, boathouses and other areas that aren’t accessible to other aircraft. This feature also allows the MVP-2 to be transported on a trailer like those used for traditional consumer boats, allowing it to be stored in various locations aside from an airport, reducing storage costs.
The Brunswick Landing is a business campus located at the former Naval Air Station Brunswick that specializes in developing progressive and innovative businesses in the fields of aviation, biotechnology, information technology and renewable energy.
"We're thrilled to have MVP Aero choose Brunswick Landing for this project," said Steve Levesque, executive director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, which operates Brunswick Landing. "We are extremely well suited to a project like this with runways, hangars and world-class technical capability and we believe MVP's choice will not only be good for them but the region."
