Looking to start your own paper mill? We've got a deal for you

Instead of the hopeful reopening of a once prosperous economic driving force for Penobscot County, the story of the Lincoln Paper and Tissue mill closing is ending with an auction.

On Wednesday, Capital Recovery Group LLC of Enfield, Conn., posted several pieces of large equipment from the Lincoln mill on their online auction site, listing inspection and sale dates congruent with the April closing.

The more than 50 large pieces of equipment from the mill include a Beloit Fourdrinier paper tissue machine capable of producing 2,500 to 4,000 feet of tissue per minute at 75 tons per day, a 148-foot-tall sawdust distribution tower and a Rice-Barton Fourdrinier paper machine capable of producing 1,300 feet of paper per minute at 150 tons per day.

“It is definitely a tough situation with the mill no longer looking to produce,” Lincoln Town Manager Ron Weatherbee told The Bangor Daily News on Wednesday. “But we will survive. It’s unfortunate, because I had heard unofficially that there were people still looking into buying it [the mill] but obviously nothing came of that.”
