NGL submits revised proposal for $3M depot project
A newly revised proposal for NGL Terminal Supply Co.’s potential South Portland liquefied petroleum gas depot has been submitted to city officials.
The new proposal was created after the city’s code enforcement officer shot down NGL’s previous proposal, saying it didn’t comply with zoning ordinances limiting new fuel storage facilities to 74,805 gallons of liquid propane, according to The Portland Press Herald.
The newly submitted proposal is NGL’s third overall and includes a reduction to the number of queuing tracks for tank rail cars, as well as a reduction to the number of overall tank cars. Additionally, the capacity of the depot has been dropped to 264,000 gallons from the previous 504,000 gallons proposed and includes a 24,000 gallon fixed storage tank for loading propane onto trucks.
The new proposal’s storage reductions still exceeds the amount allowed under South Portland ordinances, an issue that was part of NGL’s September proposal, according to an earlier article by The Portland Press Herald.
The project is expected to go before the Planning Board for site plan review late next month.
