Despite one cent jump, seasonal heating oil prices at lowest point since 2004

The Governor’s Energy Office has released the results of its weekly heating fuel price survey and found that for the first time in several months, the current statewide average price for No. 2 heating oil has increased.

At $1.72 per gallon per gallon, this week’s price for No. 2 is four cents higher than last week. The average statewide price for kerosene went up a single cent to $2.26 a gallon, while the $2.22 price per gallon that residential heating customers marks a one cent drop from last week.

The energy office noted in its weekly report that despite the increase in heating oil prices, through mid-March, the average season-long price of $1.87 per gallon is the lowest price since the office began keeping records 12 years ago.
