Coverage plan means additional jobs at Redzone Wireless

Redzone Wireless LLC — a startup backed by a $4 million loan from Camden National Bank that's insured by the Finance Authority of Maine — has announced that it plans to add 30 to 40 jobs in Rockland over the next few months.
The new jobs are on their way to the coastal city as part of a $60,000 renovation project on the third and fourth floors at the Breakwater Marketplace that is expected to be completed in May.
Michael Forcillo, vice president of sales and marketing for Redzone Wireless, told the Bangor Daily News that the move to the new office space “is consistent with our growth plans as we expand broadband coverage and capacity in Maine over the next few years.”
The expansion plans, as Jim McKenna, Redzone's founder and president told Mainebiz during an interview in early March, is to provide wireless coverage to 90% of Maine by 2018.
“In the last eight months we've expanded our coverage area to more than 25% of Maine households. Our stated objective is to provide coverage for 90% of Maine's population by 2018, and we have a plan to get there,” McKenna said in that interview. “The technology supports our plan. We have the resources in terms of everything from financing to personnel to the technology and we're executing on that plan and we feel like it's on track.”
