Gas prices in Maine remain steady near $2.10

In the past week, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the state rose by a single cent, bringing the statewide average to $2.10 per gallon.

During that same period, the average national price for a gallon of gas dipped by 1.2 cents to $2.04, according to the popular price tracking website GasBuddy.

The $2.10 statewide average reported on Monday is still 30 cents lower than one year ago and is higher than both New Hampshire’s $2.01 average price per gallon and Vermont’s price of $2.09 per gallon.

“It’s especially rare in April to see the average price of gasoline dead-even or slightly lower in some places than where it was in the prior week and as encouraging as that news certainly is for U.S. motorists, unfortunately, it’s more of an anomaly than a trend,” Gregg Laskoski, a senior analyst for GasBuddy, said in a news release. “But it’s still a very good harbinger of the savings 2016 is expected to bring.”
