Restart efforts for Lincoln mill come to a close

John McMahon, the former sales director of Lincoln Paper and Tissue and representative of a group of former mill workers with hopes of restarting production the Lincoln mill, said that the revitalization effort has ended after the equipment needed to restart the mill was sold at auction.

“The effort to restart is at a close. Too much critical equipment has been sold. Our only real shot was to come to an agreement prior to auction,” McMahon wrote in an email on Tuesday, according to the Bangor Daily News.

The necessary equipment sold includes the No. 7 tissue machine and components that sold for $450,000. A second tissue machine, No. 6, was sold for $270,000 to an undisclosed online bidder.

Finally, a third tissue machine, No. 8, was officially sold last week, according to the BDN.
