No slowing Sea Bags proliferation, as trio of new stores opening

More tourists and Mainers alike will be sporting upscale tote bags made from recycled sails, as Sea Bags, the Portland designer and manufacturer of hand-crafted, upscale totes and accessories, has announced that it will be opening three new retail stores.

The trio of new stores, which will bring the total retail location of Sea Bags to eight, will be a 600-square-foot store in Newburyport, Mass., that opened on April 28.

At the end of May, an 880-square-foot Sea Bag store will be opening in Greenport, N.Y., and a 925-square-foot store will call Mystic, Conn., its home.

“While Connecticut and New York are new states for us in terms of bricks and mortar, Newburyport represents our third store in Massachusetts,” Sea Bags CEO Don Oakes said in a news release. “With their beautiful coastal settings, together with a growing following of online customers in these states, we’re confident these locations will be great for us.”
