Construction to kick off for Falmouth eatery and sports bar

Construction of a 4,600-square-foot restaurant and sports bar in Falmouth will begin within a week, following several years of debate.

According to The Forecaster, a bulk of the opposition directed at the construction of Rivalries came from the decision to build on a lot known as Tidewater Village 4, on Hat Trick Drive, not far from Walmart. Those opposing construction said the lot was originally intended to be used to develop commercial office space, not a restaurant that would be open both weekdays and weekends late into the night.

In addition to an increase in traffic, those opposing the construction also said they were concerned about lighting and the potential for increased noise and odors coming from the building, according to The Forecaster.

Rivalries owner Lance Meader told The Forecaster that he hopes construction at the 125-seat Falmouth location will wrap-up in time for an opening in September or October.
