A taste of traditional England coming to Ellsworth
Airline Brewing Co. will be bringing an English-style pub — complete with a black-and-gold façade on the outside, an oak bar and red leather seating — to 173 Main St. in downtown Ellsworth this summer.
The Ellsworth American visited the still-under-construction pub house, where co-owners Gary Cresswell and his wife, Sharon, were touting the traditional old British-style and European beers that will be flowing at the pub and that are being brewed at Airline Brewing’s Amherst facilities.
In addition to serving the British classics, the pub will be offering ciders, wines and a special bitter called “Pride of Ellsworth,” which will only be available to brew lovers at the Ellsworth pub, Cresswell told the American.
But this wouldn’t be an English-style pub without food offerings. Although initially the pub will be offering sharing platters, Cresswell told the American that he plans to offer traditional English fare once the Ellsworth location gets settled in.
“The ultimate goal is to offer an English Sunday roast dinner,” Cresswell told the American.
