Westbrook project could be one of Greater Portland’s largest

A Scarborough developer presented site plans for one of the largest housing development projects in Greater Portland to the Westbrook planning board on Tuesday night.

Construction is currently under way on 189 housing units as part of the first phase of the Blue Spruce Farm development on Spring Street in Westbrook.

The project’s developer Rocco Risbara, president of Risbara Brothers Construction, said that the high demand for housing led to the purchase of more land adjacent to the property of the first phase. He hopes to build approximately 300 additional housing units to the project, according to WGME-TV13.

“The demand is there, so we’re having no problem filling the units. The proof is in the pudding and we filled the first 50 immediately,” Risbara said on Tuesday, according to WGME. “The next project is Waterside that we’re building right now. It’s a 48-unit project; of those 48 we have 18 already rented.”
