Downtown Bangor noodle bar a step closer to reopening

A downtown Bangor noodle bar is one step closer to reopening following the discovery last month of a collapsed sewer line that connects the Umami Noodle Bar to the city’s sewer main under Main Street.

The Bangor Daily News reports that construction crews were on the scene Thursday night digging into Main Street to replace the 6-inch sewer line that forced the popular restaurant to close for 16 days.

But repairing a collapsed sewer line is only part of the process that will allow Umami Noodle Bar to reopen. Jeremy Abbott, co-owner of the noodle bar, told the BDN that because Umami was closed for so long, employees will have a fair share of prep work to do and that food stocks will have to be replenished. A good old fashioned cleaning will also need to be done in the space because it hasn’t been used for over two weeks.

“I want to thank our customers for being very patient and understanding,” Abbott told the BDN.
