Bangor Bugaboo Creek location calls it a day

After 22 years, a Bugaboo Creek steakhouse in Bangor closed its doors on Monday, leaving between 35 and 40 employees without work.

“Twenty-two years is a long time to stay open for any restaurant,” Cody Placencia, the restaurant’s general manager, told the Bangor Daily News.

Placencia told the BDN that he was told on Monday by the corporate offices of Bugaboo that the location would be closing — the same day that employees were told it would be their last day of work.

The general manager added that it was likely the drop in sales in recent years was due to the rise in the number of Bangor-area restaurants, which may have led to the decision to close the eatery.

The Bangor closing is the latest in a string of Bugaboo closings regionally, including a New Hampshire location closing in May, and a Milford, Mass., Bugaboo, which closed in March, the BDN reported.
