$3M Portland Jetport expansion unveiled

Northeast Air held a grand-opening ceremony for a new $3 million terminal expansion at the Portland International jetport last Friday.

WCSH-TV-6 reported that the expansion features a new pilot’s lounge and a larger, state-of-the-art customer service area that includes a two-story waiting area for passengers arriving and departing their flights meant to streamline travel efficiency.

"The Portland Jetport is an important aviation gateway to Maine, not only for vacationers, but also [for] major business leaders and investors who have companies here, or may be considering a location in the state of Maine," Northeast Air President Henry Laughlin told WCSH.

The 4,000-square-foot expansion was made possible following the move of Northeast’s neighbor, MAC Air Group, to a new 43,000-square-foot building and hangar at 100 Aviation Blvd. in South Portland. The Forecaster reported that both companies invested approximately $11 million for the expansions.
