The Bar Harbor-based MDI Biological Laboratory’s board of trustees appointed Ned Cloonan to its board.

Cloonan, who lives in Greenwich, Conn., and is a summer resident of Castine, is the principal owner of the Greenwich-based senior executives and investors consulting firm, Ned Cloonan Associates. Cloonan also held the post of vice president of corporate and international affairs for AIG prior to opening the investment firm, according to MDIBL.

Cloonan was also involved in the philanthropic sector, advancing AIG’s global branding and growth strategies through philanthropic investments, including in microfinance programs that assist women and their families in numerous countries.

“We are delighted to have someone with Ned’s level of planning and business development expertise on our board,” MDIBL Chairman Peter Allen said in a statement. “His more than 30 years of experience in strategic consulting will be invaluable as we build a foundation of external support to help us realize our mission of moving laboratory discoveries in the fields of aging and regenerative medicine into the clinic.”
