Foundation from Burt's Bees co-creator donates 100 acres to Acadia
A foundation established by philanthropist and Burt's Bees co-founder Roxanne Quimby has donated approximately 100 acres to Acadia National Park.
The Maine Public Broadcasting Network reported that Lucas St. Clair, president of Elliotsville Plantation Inc. and son of Quimby, arranged the gift, which includes 13 separate parcels inside or adjacent to Maine’s sole national park. The story did not specify where the parcels are located. The gift would have to be approved by the government.
"[We were] holding them for this time, the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, to show that the National Park Service and the National Park System is an evolving entity in the United States that we felt like we could add to," St. Clair told MPBN.
