Craft beer and more to be featured at Skowhegan festival

The Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival will kick off Sept. 3 with 20 purveyors of craft beer, wine, cider and spirits.

It’s the first time for the event and one of the few to span makers of a wide range of beverages.

“We’re very excited to host this event in Skowhegan,” said Kristina Cannon, chair of the festival committee and executive director of Main Street Skowhegan. “The Maine craft brewing industry is booming, and we’re excited to draw attention to our local brewers as well as other crafters from around the state.”

Skowhegan is home to Bigelow Brewing Co., Oak Pond Brewing and Cayford Orchards, producers of Cayford’s Hardened Cider.

Others participating are Atlantic Brewing Co., Bear Bones Beer, Belfast Bay Brewing, Blank Canvas Brewing, Crooked Halo Cider House, Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co., Liberty Craft Brewing, Mason's Brewing Co., Norway Brewing Co., Penobscot Bay Brewery, Ricker's Hard Cider, Sebago Brewing, Shipyard Brewing Co., Strong Brewing, Tree Spirits Winery &

Distillery, Tumbledown Brewing, and Younity Winery.

“In addition to celebrating craft brewing in Maine, we’re hoping to boost the local economy while we’re at it,” said Cannon.

The event will be held from 2-7 p.m. General admission tickets are $40 and designated driver tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased online. Tickets purchased at the event will be $45 for general admission and $15 for designated drivers.
