Pair of new businesses open in downtown Fort Fairfield

The recent opening of two new businesses on Main Street in Fort Fairfield is the latest development of the Village Square building since the 20,000-square-foot building was purchased by Josh Cheney and Leigh Smith in 2015.

Monica Sprague, owner of the Fashion Finds on a Dime clothing resale store, said that the recent opening of the store is a culmination of several years of work. Before opening up Fashion Finds, Sprague operated her retail business out of her own home.

Though Fashion Finds is a second-hand store, Sprague said that she doesn’t accept donations, and instead has “secret” sources where she finds clothes to be sold.

“Everything I hang on the rack is clean. It is in good shape and it is ready for a new owner,” Sprague said in a statement about the opening of her new store. “The other items I receive that are too worn to pass along don’t go into the landfill without getting a second using. Instead, I donate them to farmers to use as rags. My business truly is about taking care of the community and making sure our friends and neighbors have nice clothes to wear to work and school.”

Matt Nadeau, the owner of Bella Vita Hair Salon, said the recent opening of the salon was a dream come true.

“I have always dreamed of opening my own salon,” Nadeau said in a release. “For several years I have built up a clientele while renting space in other salons, but always knew in my heart that I wanted the freedom to carve out my own space to showcase my unique style and skills. After looking around throughout the area, I found the right combination of visibility, affordability and space right here in Fort Fairfield where I live.”
