Revolutionary Gas & Tire 'a blast from the past'

A Cumberland Shell service station, which operated in the town for 44 years before closing when its long-time operator retired, has a new lease on life as a 1950s-era gas station.

The Forecaster spoke to Cam Riddle, a Falmouth resident who has been busy cleaning, painting and renovating the building at 296 Main St. since leasing the property in late August. Riddle plans on opening the doors to the newly named Revolutionary Gas & Tire soon, which  in addition to providing full-service gas pumps  will also service vintage and classic automobiles.

Riddle told The Forecaster that he envisions returning the fill station to its former glory as a community center by offering biscuits to dogs and toy cars for children as the family car gets looked at.

“I’m really going for a vintage kind of feel,” Riddle told The Forecaster. “I want to make it feel like that, especially with the Main Street address. Main Street America back then meant something different … so I want to bring it back to that, with some modern touches.”

Correction: The opening date of  Revolutionary Gas & Tire has been changed.
