There’s no slowing Dollar General’s roll: Construction underway in Hampden

Courtesy / Dollar General Corp. Three Dollar General stores in Maine were sold to an undisclosed institutional buyer for $4.6 million.

Dollar General’s proliferation across the state of Maine continues, as the Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based chain retailer has begun construction on another store, this time in Hampden.

The approximately 9,000-square-foot store will be located at 674 Main Road North, next to a Pat’s Pizza location in the Penobscot County city, according to the Bangor Daily News.

“This new location is a great fit for Dollar General,” Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development, told the BDN.

The Hampden Dollar General store is the latest in a string of Maine openings for the retailer. The company recently submitted an application to build a store in Warren, and construction is underway in several other Maine communities, including Enfield, Sullivan and Limington.

The Hampden Dollar General location will employ six to 10 employees when it opens in the winter of 2017, according to the BDN.
