Unity College: High demand leads to ‘instant admissions day’

Unity College officials say that a multi-year increase in demand has led the Waldo County private college to offer an “Instant Admissions Day” on Saturday, its third in three years.

Unity College Admission Director Joe Saltalamachia said in a statement that the day will offer qualified first-year and transfer students a chance to complete the college’s application process, get accepted and pay a deposit, all in one day.

“It makes things easier and less stressful for applicants who often wait anxiously for months when applying through the traditional process at other institutions,” Saltalamachia said. “These students can secure their place at Unity prior to the regular decision cycle.”

Unity officials said that 76 students were accepted at the 2015 Instant Admissions Day, and that 89 students from across the country have applied to attend this year’s event.
